Fiber Connector Components And Different Fiber Connectors Available Online

Image
Instead of electrical signals fiber cables transmit light pulses. This calls the terminations to be really precise. Except for allowing pins to make metal-to-metal contact, fiber optic cable connectors align microscopic glass fibers precisely to allow for a solid communication system. A fiber connector has 3 major components: Ferrule, connector body and coupling mechanism.  Ferrule - A thin structure, cylindrical in shape that holds the glass fiber. It consists of a hollow center that forms a tight grip on the fiber. Ferrules are made up of ceramic material, metal or high-quality plastic. They are mainly used for single-mode fiber connection.  Connector Body - It consists of a plastic or metal structure to hold the ferrule and to support other members of the fiber cable.  Coupling Mechanism - This is a part of the connector body that holds the connector in place when it gets attached to another device (a switch or NIC).  Let us now look at so...
